31 FIA officials found involved in Greece boat tragedy

ISLAMABAD: Thirty-one officers and officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have been linked to the Greece boat tragedy, in which atleast five Pakistanis were killed.
The accused, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, are suspected of aiding illegal travel for individuals who tragically lost their lives in the incident.
These officers were reportedly stationed at various airports across Pakistan. Nineteen in Faisalabad, Sialkot (3), Lahore (2), Islamabad (2), and Quetta (5).
The said officers names have been placed on the Exit Control List.
Human trafficking: FIA arrests two men from Gujranwala
The investigation gained urgency following orders from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who directed the authorities concerned to take strict punitive action within a week against culprits involved in human trafficking.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also ordered the formation of a committee headed by the interior minister to find a permanent solution to end human trafficking issue.
Earlier this week, FIA arrested a woman among two more human smugglers for their involvement in the tragedy.
On Saturday, two individuals involved in human trafficking were also apprehended from Gujranwala’s Shadman Colony.
Director FIA stated that the accused were providing fake visas to citizens from various parts of Pakistan with the assistance of agents.
