Aamir Khan was original target in Tiger Shroff shooting: report

Indian police suspect that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was the original target of the gunmen who opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai on October 18, but switched targets after failing to reach Khan, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Police sources told the newspaper that the alleged attackers travelled from Haryana to Mumbai on September 20 and spent nearly a month surveilling the area around Khan’s residence. They reportedly visited the neighbourhood at least three times during that period.

According to the report, the suspects had been instructed to target Khan but struggled to find an opportunity because he frequently left home for film shoots or sometimes remained indoors for several days.

By late September, the alleged attackers decided to change their plan and began preparing to target Shroff instead, the report said.

Why Tiger Shroff was targeted

Police sources told The Indian Express that the suspects considered Shroff a relatively easier target because he regularly played football near a park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sundays.

The alleged attackers monitored the actor’s movements through videos and reels posted on social media, using the footage to study his routine, according to the report.

On October 18, gunmen opened fire at Shroff’s car as he was leaving after playing football in Juhu. The actor escaped unharmed, but his driver and a passer-by were injured in the shooting.

Aamir Khan had received threats

Police officials suspect that the alleged plan to target Khan could be linked to threats he received in July this year, according to the report.

At the time, a person claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had threatened the actor.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the alleged attackers’ plans, identify their associates and determine whether other individuals were involved in or connected to the plot.
