Abdul Razzaq issues apology to Aishwarya Rai for ‘slip of the tongue’

WEB DESK: Former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq has issued a video message extending his apologies to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, attributing the incident to a ‘slip of the tongue.’

In the video, Razzaq stands, presenting his perspective on recent events with a public apology for his earlier statements.

He stated, “I was discussing cricket and coaching. While making a point, I intended to cite another example but mistakenly used Aishwarya Rai’s name; it was not intentional. I sincerely apologise to her.”

He stressed that the mention of the actress’s name was an inadvertent error, asserting that it should not have occurred in the first place and expressing sincere regret for any unintended offence caused.

Meanwhile, cricket legend Shahid Afridi clarified his laughter during Razzaq’s controversial statements, labelling Razzaq’s references as unethical and inappropriate.

Earlier, during a media address about Pakistani cricket, Abdul Razzaq used an example to illustrate his point.

He remarked, “If one marries Aishwarya with the intention of having pious kids, it is not possible,” delivered in a casual manner that prompted laughter from others.

Shahid Afridi called on Razzaq to apologise, condemning the inappropriate nature of the statements. Subsequently, Razzaq promptly released an apology video.

According to Samaa, Aishwarya’s global fanbase criticised the cricketer for his remarks, flooding social media with the video clip accompanied by numerous condemnatory captions, demanding an apology from Razzaq.
