Oscars 2026: ‘One Battle After Another’, ‘Sinners’ dominate the 98th Academy Awards

Academy Awards 2026

With all categories now announced, the 98th Academy Awards belonged largely to Sinners, One Battle After Another and Frankenstein. While Sinners and One Battle After Another led the major wins, Frankenstein made its mark across the craft races, cementing all three films as the standout titles of the night.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another has turned into one of the night’s biggest forces, winning best supporting actor for Sean Penn, best adapted screenplay, best casting, best film editing, and best directing. Sinners has stayed firmly in the awards conversation with wins for best original screenplay, best original score, best cinematography, and best actor for Michael B Jordan, while Frankenstein has swept multiple craft prizes including costume design, makeup and hairstyling, and production design.

Beyond the frontrunners, the ceremony has also delivered several standout moments. Sentimental Value won best international feature film, KPop Demon Hunters took best animated feature film and best original song for “Golden,” while Avatar: Fire and Ash claimed best visual effects and F1 won best sound. Amy Madigan picked up best supporting actress for Weapons, and a rare tie saw The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva share best live action short film. With only two marquee categories remaining, the Oscars now appear to be heading toward a finish shaped by a handful of dominant titles rather than a split field.
