ISLAMABAD: In the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Hong Kong suffered a 24-run defeat at the hands of Afghanistan A in a thrilling group stage encounter.
Afghanistan A set a competitive target of 141, finishing at 140/6 in 20 overs. Mohammad Ishaq led the charge with a brisk 38 off 29 balls, while Farmanullah Safi remained unbeaten on 23 off 17 deliveries. Quick contributions from Imran Mir (20 runs) and Rahmanullah Zadran (24 runs) helped Afghanistan A post a challenging total, aided by 7 extras, including five wides.
Chasing the target, Hong Kong struggled to maintain the required run rate and were eventually restricted to 116/9 in their 20 overs. Mohammad Waheed and Hassan Khan Mohammad were among the wickets for Hong Kong, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.

Afghanistan A’s sharp bowling and agile fielding sealed a comfortable 24-run victory, leaving Hong Kong with a setback in the tournament and strengthening Afghanistan A’s bid to progress further in the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Yesterday (Tuesday), Pakistan A gained a commanding 9 wickets victory over UAE after tightening their grip on today’s match from the very beginning as the 9th match of the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup took place between UAE and Pakistan-A.
