Achakzai urges Shehbaz to ensure Imran Khan’s fundamental human rights

ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has written a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, calling for immediate action to guarantee that former premier Imran Khan’s basic human rights are upheld.

In his letter, Achakzai emphasised that Khan’s health and access to proper medical care are not just political issues, but fundamental human rights concerns.

Achakzai specifically requested that Imran Khan undergo a thorough medical examination by doctors from Shaukat Khanum and Shifa hospitals, providing the Prime Minister with a list of qualified physicians for the task.

Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Achakzai also appealed for Shehbaz Sharif’s personal intervention to ensure that Khan receives timely and proper medical attention.

“The health of Imran Khan is a matter of fundamental human rights,” the letter said, underscoring the opposition leader’s insistence on protecting the former PM’s basic rights amid growing concerns about his well-being.

The opposition leader has also expressed during a session of the national assembly conducted earlier this month, stressing fundamental human rights for the incarcerated PTI leader.

He said that, when PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was ill, during the PTI government, Imran had said political differences should be set aside and that no one’s life should be politicised.
