In a letter to the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, Justice (retd) Mushir Alam expressed his disappointment over the social media campaign that followed the nomination of ad hoc judges.

“Allah has bestowed me with an honour than my status. I am deeply disappointed by the campaign launched on social media after the nomination of ad hoc judges,” Justice (retd) Mushir Alam wrote.

He further stated that under the current circumstances, he apologises for not being able to serve as an ad hoc judge.

Meanwhile, sources said that Justice (retd) Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Mian Khel have agreed to be appointed as ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court.

Sources also said that Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir has not yet responded to the Registrar of the Supreme Court about the offer.

It should be noted that a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Commission has been summoned for July 19 to discuss the appointment of ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court, during which four names will be considered.
