PESHAWAR: Tensions escalated at the Torkham border between Afghanistan and Pakistan when Afghan forces attempted to establish a check post in a prohibited area adjacent to the border.
Security sources say that upon being halted by the Pakistani military, the Afghan forces initiated fire using small arms.
In a swift response, the Pakistani security forces countered the aggression by compelling the Afghan forces to retreat, effectively bringing the situation under control, sources add.
