KABUL: Afghanistan has announced that it will celebrate its Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday, becoming the first country to mark the end of Ramadan at least one day ahead of the Islamic calendar.

The announcement by Afghanistan was made after local religious authorities confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, the start of the festive occasion.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of joy, prayer, and community gatherings, when Muslims break their month-long fast and express gratitude. Across Afghanistan, families are preparing for special prayers, charity donations, and traditional feasts.
