Afghanistan name Dwayne Bravo as bowling consultant for T20 World Cup

KABUL: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Tuesday that West Indies cricket legend Dwayne Bravo has been appointed as the Bowling Consultant for the national team for the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will commence on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.

Bravo will join the team during their preparation camp in the Caribbean ahead of the event. With 625 wickets, Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Additionally, he is one of the most successful fast-bowling all-rounders in the format, having scored nearly 7000 runs.


The 40-year-old Bravo, a former right-arm medium-fast bowling all-rounder, represented the West Indies in 295 international matches, accumulating 6423 runs and 363 wickets. His extensive career also includes 100 first-class matches, 227 List-A games, and an impressive 573 T20 appearances, according to an official statement from the ACB.

Bravo is renowned globally for his unique combination of cricketing skill and entertainment. He has clinched numerous titles, including the Champions Trophy, T20 World Cup, IPL, and CPL. Most recently, he served as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings during the 2024 Indian Premier League.
