 Afghanistan to host West Indies ahead of T20I World Cup 2026

ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has said that they will host the West Indies for a three-match T20I series in the UAE, taking place during January 19-22, 2026.

The two sides will be eyeing crucial preparation, as both teams have already secured their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after competing in the top seven teams from the previous edition of the 2024 competition.

Expressing on Afg vs WI T20 series, both sides said that the three-match series will be a crucial opportunity for both. While the ACB CEO Naseeb Khan also added that the series will showcase the strength of the Men in Blue before they go into global event. Notably, the ICC T20I World Cup will be hosted in February-March by India and Sri Lanka.

While the guest team enters the global tournament as the only side—alongside India—to have won the T20 World Cup twice, lifting the trophy in 2012 and 2016, Afghanistan will arrive with momentum after securing their first-ever top-four finish last year by reaching the semi-finals.
