Ahmed Hussain stars as Pakistan U19 crush England by 200 runs to seal series

Ahmed Hussain starred with bat and ball as Pakistan Under-19 crushed England Under-19 by 200 runs in the fourth and final one-day match to seal the four-match series 3-1 at Sir Paul Getty’s Ground in Wormsley on Wednesday.

Ahmed first scored a fluent 63 off 53 balls, including eight fours and a six, before returning figures of 3-16 in 2.4 overs to help bowl England out for 150 in 20.4 overs.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan posted an imposing 350-4 in their allotted 50 overs.

Openers Usman Khan and Jahangir Bilal provided Pakistan with a solid start, adding 148 runs for the first wicket. Both batsmen scored 79, with Usman’s innings coming off 93 balls and featuring nine fours and a six, while Jahangir struck 13 fours during his 81-ball stay at the crease.

Captain Farhan Yousaf then provided the finishing push, remaining unbeaten on 80 off just 54 balls. His innings included eight fours and three sixes, while Hamza Zahoor remained unbeaten on seven off two balls.

In reply, England made a brisk start, but Pakistan’s bowlers quickly took control.

Captain Ralphie Albert top-scored with 46 off 24 balls, while Isaac Mohammed scored 32 off 20 balls. Their dismissals triggered a batting collapse as England slipped from 81-2 to 150 all out.

Ahmed Hussain led Pakistan’s bowling attack with three wickets, while Niqab Shafiq, Mohammad Sayyam and Jahangir Bilal took two wickets each.

The emphatic victory helped Pakistan finish the one-day series on a high after England won the third match by two runs. Pakistan had scored 300-9 while chasing England’s target of 303.

Earlier on the tour, England Under-19 won the only four-day match, played in Arundel from September 2 to 5, by 10 runs.
