Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu undertakes official visit to Romania to strengthen defence ties

WEB DESK: Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, is on an official visit to Romania to bolster bilateral defence cooperation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the ISPR, the air chief met with the Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff, where both sides discussed enhancing mutual defence relations and exploring new avenues of collaboration. Upon his arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu was presented with a guard of honour.

During the meeting, the two air chiefs held detailed discussions on operational cooperation, joint exercises, and training programmes. They also exchanged views on regional security dynamics and global peace efforts. Both leaders agreed to promote personnel exchange and strengthen training opportunities between their air forces.

The Romanian Air Chief lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and its exemplary performance in countering Indian aggression. He also praised the PAF’s strides towards self-reliance under the leadership of Air Chief Marshal Sidhu.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to institutionalising and expanding air defence cooperation, with discussions also covering potential collaboration in aerospace technology and the defence industry.

The ISPR described the visit as a milestone in Pakistan-Romania military relations, marking a renewed commitment to peace, progress, and strategic partnership.
