Air quality hazardous in Lahore, unhealthy in Islamabad

The weather in Islamabad is expected to remain cold and dry, according to the Meteorological Department. The PMD stated that the federal capital and its surrounding areas will experience dry conditions, with cold temperatures during the morning and night hours.

According to AccuWeather, air quality in Islamabad has deteriorated to “unhealthy” levels for sensitive groups. Those with respiratory issues are advised to avoid outdoor activities. Even healthy individuals may experience breathing difficulties or throat irritation and are advised to stay indoors and limit time outside if symptoms occur.

Lahore and Islamabad air quality index

In Lahore, the air quality remains “hazardous” with smog continuing to blanket several areas including Defence Phase 9, Askari 11, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bedian Road, and localities along the Ring Road.

AccuWeather reported that health effects are likely to be felt immediately by sensitive groups, who should avoid outdoor exposure. Others are advised to reduce outdoor activities due to possible breathing discomfort and throat irritation.

Most districts of Balochistan are also expected to remain cold and dry. In Murree and Galiyat, the weather is likely to stay cold and dry as well. Fog and smog are predicted to prevail over the plain areas of Punjab.

Meanwhile, dry weather is forecast in most districts of Sindh, while much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience cold and dry conditions. The Meteorological Department added that Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also expected to witness cold and dry weather.
