AJK to host “overseas Kashmiris convention” with focus on investment, policy dialogue

MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is set to host an Overseas Kashmiris Convention in Muzaffarabad, bringing together participants from across the world to discuss policy, investment opportunities, and development initiatives.

The multi-day event will feature panel discussions, policy dialogues, and cultural shows, highlighting contributions of the Kashmiri diaspora in various sectors, including information technology, hydropower, tourism, and minerals.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, federal ministers, and state ministers are expected to attend, along with prominent overseas Kashmiris who have established reputations in business, academia, and other professional fields.

Officials said the convention aims to showcase investment opportunities in the region and brief potential investors on government facilitation measures. Plans include the establishment of a one-window operation for investors, a special court for overseas Kashmiris, and a web portal for addressing grievances and facilitating communication with the Prime Minister’s Office.

The AJK government said recommendations from panel discussions will be used to formulate a comprehensive policy framework to support diaspora engagement and regional development.

Cultural performances and exhibitions of arts and heritage will also form part of the convention, reflecting the government’s emphasis on combining economic, policy, and cultural objectives.
