Al-Riyadh vs Al-Nassr: Ronaldo missing from key match against Saudi giants tonight

RIYADH: Cristiano Ronaldo, the famous footballer also known as CR7, is shockingly absent from Al-Nassr’s squad for tonight’s crucial Saudi Pro League clash against Al-Riyadh.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will not even make the bench as the defending champions aim to secure vital points.

This season has been frustrating for Al-Nassr despite heavy spending of over €160 million. While rivals like Al-Ittihad ($154.0 million spent) clinched the league double and Al-Ahli ($176 million spent) lifted the AFC Champions League, Al-Nassr’s trophy cabinet remains empty, and Ronaldo has faced mounting scrutiny.

With Al-Riyadh lining up in a 4-3-3 formation and Al-Nassr in a 4-4-2, tonight’s match promises fireworks, but all eyes will be on the pitch in Ronaldo’s absence.

Following Ronaldo’s absence, fans have taken to social media, asking, “Can Al-Nassr survive without their superstar, or is this another season of unmet expectations?”

Notably, Al Nassr appear to have regained their competitive rhythm, securing four consecutive victories after a sluggish start to 2026. Fans say the squad is determined to reclaim the Saudi Pro League lead as they face Al Riyadh tonight. However, Ronaldo’s unexpected absence poses a significant challenge for coach Jorge Jesus.

Explaining his absence from the game, CR7 expressed frustration with Al Nassr’s management, which he claims is influenced by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF). The veteran feels he has not been treated on par with his teammates, with the rumoured arrival of Karim Benzema reportedly being the final straw.
