Alarming smog level: smart lockdown imposed in five districts of Punjab

GUJRANWALA: To control the deteriorating air quality caused by smog, the Punjab government has announced a smart lockdown in five districts of the province, including Gujranwala.
The lockdown will be in effect from November 10 to 12.
The smart lockdown is imposed in the following five districts of Punjab:
- Gujranwala
- Sialkot
- Narowal
- Hafizabad
- Wazirabad
What will be open and closed during the smart lockdown?
- All educational institutions will be closed.
- All offices will be closed.
- All markets will be closed.
- All entertainment venues will be closed.
- All wedding halls will be closed.
- All cinemas will be closed.
Burning of crop residues and garbage will also be prohibited.
Gujranwala commissioner while announcing the smart lockdown has requested citizens to minimize their movements during the lockdown period to effectively curb air pollution.
NDMA Advisory on Smog
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has already issued a smog advisory for Punjab, recommending that people wear masks, avoid outdoor activities, and stay hydrated.
According to the NDMA, there is a possibility of smog reaching alarming levels in central and southern Punjab next week.
