Alexis Ortega, the Mexican voice actor best known for dubbing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has died at the age of 38.

The news was confirmed by World Dubbing News in a statement shared on Instagram, which expressed condolences to Ortega’s family, friends and colleagues. No cause of death has been announced.

A defining voice for a generation

Ortega became widely recognised as the Spanish-language voice of Peter Parker in the MCU, beginning with Captain America: Civil War and continuing through Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War.

His portrayal helped shape how a generation of Latin American audiences experienced the character, cementing his place as one of the most recognisable voices in contemporary dubbing.

Work beyond the Marvel universe

Beyond Spider-Man, Ortega built a diverse and respected career across film, television and animation. His credits included major productions such as Star Wars: Rogue OneFinding DoryBig Hero 6 and Cars 3.

He also appeared on screen in popular Mexican series, including Luis Miguel: The Series, where he portrayed Jorge “El Burro” Van Rankin, and The House of Flowers, in which he played DJ Freddy Limantour.

In recent years, Ortega had also begun collaborating with YouTube creator MrBeast, providing Spanish-language dubbing for his videos.
