ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted a three-day physical remand to Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir and human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari.

The court session, presided over by Judge Abu AL Hasnat Zulqarnain, pertained to charges of sedition, intimidation, and incitement of the public.

The prosecution had originally sought a ten-day physical remand.

Imaan Mazari was apprehended by the police in the early hours of Sunday on allegations related to interference in state affairs. Following the expiration of her one-day remand, she was brought before the court.

During the proceedings, Imaan’s legal representative pointed out that her client was facing two distinct cases of a similar nature.

In a development concerning the investigation, law enforcement authorities were unable to recover any pertinent evidence during the initial 24-hour physical remand and are now demanding a ten-day extension for further investigation into the matter.

Ali Wazir approached the rostrum and said that he wants to clarify that during his public gathering he said nothing wrong and he is being implicated on false claims.

Upon considering the arguments put forth, the judge overseeing the Anti-Terrorism Court ordered a three-day physical remand for the human rights lawyer, granting the authorities additional time for their investigation.

In a separate incident, Imaan Mazari emotionally reunited with her mother, Shireen Mazari, a former federal minister for human rights, at the court premises.

Shireen Mazari alleged that plainclothes policewomen had forcibly entered their residence during the early hours of Sunday night to detain her daughter. Along with Imaan, the authorities also seized security cameras, her laptop, and cellphone.
