WEB DESK: The Baraa Political Alliance called for the immediate restoration of peace in Khyber’s Tirah Valley and a clear guarantee of sustainable security for residents of the conflict-affected region.
In a statement, the alliance demanded that all firing, shelling, and helicopter operations in Tirah be halted immediately, highlighting that civilians are living in fear. They stressed that the dignified return of displaced persons must be ensured, and all government promises to the victims must be implemented without delay.
The alliance also called for impartial investigations into allegations of corruption and political interference in the registration process of Tirah’s displaced residents. They urged that all inhabitants of the higher-altitude areas be granted IDP status and fully registered, warning that selective registration by NADRA and local administration is leaving genuine victims deprived.
Rising insecurity in Upper Baraa and the Bazoo-Pan areas following the Tirah incidents was described as “alarming,” with the alliance urging immediate measures to regain control. They also demanded the end of kidnappings for ransom and threatening phone calls in Baraa.
The Baraa Political Alliance announced the launch of a peace movement in the area to press for their demands. They warned that if provincial and federal governments fail to provide permanent solutions for Tirah’s victims, a large-scale protest campaign would be launched, including a march involving 13,744 vehicles.
