WEB DESK: Google is gearing up to unveil Android 15 in the coming months, even as anticipation builds for the One UI 6.1 update.
For Samsung Galaxy phone users, this development holds particular significance as Android 15 will serve as the foundation for One UI 7.0.
The tech giant recently announced that the next Google I/O event is scheduled to commence on May 14, 2024.
Traditionally, Google uses this platform to introduce its latest Android version. This year, we anticipate the unveiling of Android 15 along with its notable features.
Additionally, Google might reveal enhancements for its various platforms, such as Android TV, ChromeOS, and Wear OS. Speculation also surrounds the potential debut of the budget-friendly Pixel 8A smartphone at the event.
Among the anticipated features of Android 15 are Easy Mode, akin to Samsung’s Easy Mode, improved Bluetooth LE Audio support, and Private Space, resembling Samsung’s Secure Folder.
Google is also expected to announce updates for its suite of services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Chrome, Google Drive, Google Home, Google Photos, Google Workspace, YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV.
Typically, Google follows a structured release cycle for Android, starting with developer preview versions at Google I/O, followed by subsequent developer previews and public beta versions in the ensuing months. The stable Android version usually debuts towards the end of Q3 or early Q4.
Subsequently, Samsung rolls out the beta version of One UI in Q3, with the stable version following in Q4 each year.
Following this timeline, it’s conceivable that Samsung might release the public beta version of One UI 7.0 in Q3 2024, with the stable version expected in Q4 2024.
The rollout will likely commence with flagship models like the Galaxy S24, followed by high-end devices from previous years.
Until then, users eagerly await the impending arrival of the One UI 6.1 update, slated to launch in the coming weeks.
