WEB DESK: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 153.4 kilograms of narcotics valued at more than Rs11.7 million and arrested seven suspects in six separate operations across Pakistan, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday, February 11.
The majority of the recovered substances comprised hashish, alongside a smaller quantity of ice (crystal methamphetamine). The operations were aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks, particularly those allegedly operating in proximity to educational institutions amid concerns over narcotics being supplied to students. According to the statement, those arrested admitted to selling drugs to young people in academic settings.
Significant quantities were recovered in multiple cities. In Lyari, Karachi, near a college, 7.7kg of hashish was seized from a suspect. In Hyderabad, close to a university, officials recovered 2kg of hashish. A substantial haul was made at Karachi’s Northern Bypass, where 120kg of hashish was recovered from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested.
In Peshawar, authorities seized 18kg of hashish and 1.3kg of ice from a vehicle on Ring Road, leading to one arrest. In a separate operation near a cricket ground in the city, 2.4kg of hashish was recovered from a suspect. Meanwhile, on the Indus Highway in Kohat, officials seized 2kg of hashish and detained one individual.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations are under way.
The ANF reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking, particularly around schools, colleges and universities in major urban centres including Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Kohat. The latest operations reflect intensified enforcement efforts to dismantle narcotics supply chains targeting vulnerable youth.
No further details regarding the identities of the suspects, associated vehicles or additional recoveries were disclosed in the statement.
