Angelina Jolie: A hug, cinematic comeback and a fan scare

WEB DESK: The much awaited appearance by Angelina Jolie at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) saw an unexpected distribution when an overly enthusiastic admirer of hers manged to breach security and embrace the star on Wednesday.
The incident occurred as Angelina Jolie arrived in Toronto, Canada to showcase her latest project “Without Blood”, a revenge thriller featuring Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir. Without Blood revolves around the a woman who confronts the person responsible for her father’s death.

Jolie graced the event wearing a stunning Dolce and Gabbana black outfit, complemented by a matching opera.
Video circulating on various social media platforms online captured the moment when Jolie, while signing autographs, suddenly had a fan slip fast the security and wrap her arms around the actress.
As bystanders reacted, Jolie’s team reacted quickly, pulling the overly enthusiastic fan away from the A-tier actress. Jolie asked her team to treat the fan kindly.
The event has raised questions among the enraged Jolie fans, many of whom described the incident as “terrifying’ or “frightening”. The TIFF administration was also severely criticised for selecting a small sen ue for such a prominent screening, while quesito9ning the security hired for the event.
The 49 year old actress was accompanied by her 20-year-old son, Pax, who had recently recovered from injuries sustains in a bike accident.
Despite the ‘scare’, Jolie remained composed and engaged with the fan. The breaching-fan complimented the stunning actress’s beauty and appearance before she was escorted away.
Besides attending the movie’s premiere, Angelina Jolie was celebrated at TIFF’s annual Tribute Awards, where she received the Impact Media prize for her dedication to the intertwining social issues with cinematic storytelling.
However, she opted not to pose for photographs on the red carpet and requested that no visual documentation be taken during the award ceremony. This resulted in a brief interruption of the live broadcast.
During a limited press interaction, Jolie explained her motives behind directing Without Blood. She attributed the inspiration behind the project to Alessandro Baricco’s novel of the same name.
The Tomb Raider actress expressed her admiration for the book, stating that the novel’s story delved into the intricate nuances of human nature, which resonated with her deeply on a personal level.
She said she related the novel’s plot with her personal experiences and the harsh realities of conflict. “It captured the essence of what many individuals I know have endured through war”, she elaborated.

Before her Toronto Film Festival appearance, Jolie also graced the Venice Film Festival to promote her biographical drama “Maria”. Within the movie, she portrays the legendary opera singer Maria Callas.
Festival organisers took precautions to ensure that Jolie and her ex-husband Brad Pitt did not cross baths during the event. The former Brangelina is currently going through a contentious divorce and asset-spilling legal battle.
