Another child abuser shoots his private parts in Kasur: police

child abuser arrested in Kasur

KASUR: An alleged child abuser in Kasur district was injured after he accidentally shot himself in his private parts while attempting to draw a pistol at the raiding police party, police said on Saturday.

This was the second such incident reported from Kasur in three weeks. In July, another man accused of harassing a minor in Kasur’s Shah Inayat Colony also accidentally shot himself in the same manner.

According to Kasur police spokesperson, the latest incident involved an accused identified as Riyasat.

He said the accused intercepted the 10-year-old girl in Zaheerabad Colony when she was on her way to her aunt’s house. Upon finding the minor girl alone in the street, he molested her.

When the girl cried out, the accused fled the scene.

However, CCTV footage from the street captured him committing the crime.

The spokesperson said after registering a case at the request of the girl’s father, police began searching for the child abuser using CCTV footage and other modern methods.

Police received information that the accused was in a hiding spot, which a team led by SHO Qurban Nawaz then raided to make an arrest.

The spokesperson claimed that as the police team moved to apprehend him, the child abuser hurriedly tried to attack police with a pistol, which fired and a bullet went through his genitals.

The police team took the injured suspect into custody and admitted him to DHQ Hospital Kasur for treatment.

CCD encounters

Kasur is considered a highly unsafe region for children, as it frequently makes headlines for cases of child abuse, rape, and blackmail.

According to police sources, authorities have decided to take strict action against abusers to deter other potential criminals.

This strategy was implemented after the Punjab government, through the Police Order Amendment Act 2025, empowered the recently established Crime Control Department (CCD) to investigate major heinous crime cases.

Since then, shootouts with criminals, often ending in arrests or deaths, have become routine.

Following these allegedly staged encounters, many people are citing a marked decrease in crime, although official figures had already indicated a decline in the crime rate.
