RAWALPINDI: In another case of alleged mistreatment of a minor housemaid on Wednesday an 8-year-old girl named Kinza reportedly experienced physical abuse at the hands of her female employer and the employer’s husband in the Rawat area of Rawalpindi.
According to the father of the young housemaid, Kinza was subjected to mistreatment by Bakhtawar, the female homeowner, and her husband. Visible injuries and wounds were observed on the young girl’s head as a result of the alleged ordeal. A formal complaint has been filed against the woman and her husband at the Rawat police station.
In response to the incident, Superintendent of Police (Saddar) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) promptly visited the residence of the minor housemaid to assess her well-being. Law enforcement officials assured the family of the victim that justice would be pursued diligently.
Islamabad police form JIT to probe maid torture case
This incident highlights a concerning trend of reported abuse involving minor housemaids in the Punjab region. Despite the existence of legislation prohibiting the employment of underage domestic workers, such cases continue to surface.
Notably, a recent case involved a 14-year-old maid who allegedly endured severe mistreatment at the hands of Somia, the wife of a former civil judge in Islamabad.
The parents of the victim lodged a formal complaint at a local police station, resulting in legal action. Somia, who has been subsequently demoted to the status of Officer on Special Duty (OSD), reportedly accused the maid, Rizwana, of theft and proceeded to inflict physical harm upon her. Somia is presently incarcerated in connection with the ongoing case.
