The Ministry of Interior has granted security clearance to a new private airline, Jet Green Airlines, to operate in Pakistan, officials confirmed to HUM Investigation Team.
The interior ministry issued the no-objection certificate (NOC) to Jet Green amid the expedited process of privatising the national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
Efforts are underway to sell PIA, which has accumulated losses exceeding Rs850 billion, including all payable debts.
In the last three years, the government has permitted three private airlines to commence operations in Pakistan, providing a significant boost to the aviation sector.
Jet Green Airlines applied for the NOC from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority last year. The airline’s licence application was reviewed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in October 2023 and discussed in its January 2024 meeting, where it was recommended for approval.

The application is now with the relevant authorities for final processing, sources said.
Jet Green Airlines joins a list of private carriers already operating in Pakistan, including Air Blue, Serene Air, Air Sial and Fly Jinnah.
