Anti-Taliban operation continues in North Waziristan

Security forces kill seven Khawarij terrorists in North Waziristan

Pakistan’s security forces are continuing operations in North Waziristan against the Afghan Taliban and militants the state refers to as Fitna al Khawarij, according to security sources, as tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier remain high. Recent reporting has described Operation Ghazab Lil Haq as part of Pakistan’s broader military response to what it says are cross-border militant threats.

According to the sources, Pakistani forces destroyed an Afghan Taliban flag post in North Waziristan during what they described as an intense operation in the area. They said militant positions belonging to the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al Khawarij were being targeted effectively as part of the ongoing campaign. The sources added that the operation would continue until its objectives were fully achieved.

The statement fits into Pakistan’s wider account of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, under which officials say the military has been striking infrastructure and positions allegedly linked to militant groups operating from or supported across the border. Reuters and local reporting in recent days have described the fighting as one of the sharpest escalations in Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.
