Tech Turmoil: Apple services crash in wake of Whatsapp’s restoration


WEB DESK: Tech giant Apple’s services crashed on Thursday hours after Meta’s Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram were restored.

According to the company’s status page, several Apple services including the App Store, Apple TV, and Apple Music crashed.

More than 6,400 users have complained about service interruption so far, the status admitted, with most of the complaints reported in the United States (US).

Meta platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, experienced a widespread outage on Wednesday. The global disruption began with WhatsApp, followed shortly by Instagram and Facebook.

As per reports, mostly image and media uploads were impacted on Meta’s platforms. Despite major disruptions reported on Meta’s status page, some users on WhatsApp were still able to send messages.

Meta’s official WhatsApp account acknowledged the problem and assured users of ongoing efforts to restore services promptly. WhatsApp later confirmed that services were gradually being restored after experiencing server issues.

The services for all Meta social media platforms were restored in early hours of Thursday.
