ISLAMABAD: In response to the directives of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and for the convenience of candidates, it has been resolved to reopen the application portal for the re-conduct of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

A significant development in this regard emerged during a meeting of the Provincial Admission Committee for medical and dental colleges, held at the University of Health Sciences, under the chairmanship of Punjab’s Secretary Health, Ali Jan. The meeting was attended by vice-chancellors from government medical universities.

The committee unanimously decided to reopen the application portal, aligning with PMDC’s directives and for the convenience of candidates who are planning to take the MDCAT for a second time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

It’s worth noting that the portal will exclusively cater to candidates appearing for the test in these two provinces. The application portal for government medical colleges will be accessible for an additional three days, whereas the application portal for private colleges will remain open for an additional two weeks.

Secretary Health Punjab, Ali Jan, emphasized that the MDCAT in Punjab had been conducted with transparency and adherence to established guidelines.

During the meeting, the Provincial Admission Committee advocated for a domicile-based MDCAT policy. They stressed that the current policy, where the cancellation of the test in one province impacts admissions in other provinces, needs to be reevaluated.
