Are ChatGPT and Perplexity also down?

WEB DESK: With Amazon Web Services (AWS) services outage leading to multiple apps becoming inaccessible, turns out that AI platforms Chat GPT and Perplexity are also down.

AWS reported “increased error rates and latencies” in its US-EAST-1 region, though the impact has spread worldwide. According to Verge, users on Reddit said Alexa is unresponsive, with alarms and routines failing to work. Other services relying on AWS, such as Perplexity, Airtable, and the McDonald’s app, have also gone down. The exact cause of the outage remains unknown, and AWS has yet to confirm when normal operations will resume. Snapchat, Roblox and Fortnite are also inaccessible.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas also took to X confirming that the app was inaccessible and that the team is working to resolve the issue.

Earlier in October, thousands of users worldwide reported being unable to access ChatGPT as OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot suffered a global outage. According to Downdetector, over 700 users flagged problems with both the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT, which were unresponsive to prompts. The disruption affected users across India, the US, the UK, and Australia. Despite widespread reports, OpenAI was yet to officially acknowledge the issue, with its status page then stating, “We’re not aware of any issues affecting our systems.”
