Arrest warrant issued for Ali Amin Gandapur

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Kashmir has issued an arrest warrant for Ali Amin Gandapur, the nominated chief ministerial candidate for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

This action stems from allegations of violating the election code of conduct during the recent elections in Azad Kashmir.

It’s reported that the arrest warrant was issued following a complaint filed by Raja Zulqarnain against Gandapur, emphasizing the seriousness with which electoral violations are being pursued.

Additionally, the Lahore police are actively working to apprehend winning candidates from the recent general elections who are wanted in connection with violent incidents on May 9, 2023.

Among those targeted for arrest are prominent figures such as Mian Aslam Iqbal, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Imtiaz Sheikh, who have been designated as proclaimed offenders by the court.

According to JIT officials, a comprehensive plan has been put in place to track down and arrest the implicated fugitives, who secured seats in the 2024 general elections. Utilizing advanced techniques such as geofencing, mobile tracking, and IP address tracing, law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads to locate the suspects.

The court has officially designated Mian Aslam Iqbal, Imtiaz Sheikh, and Ali Amin Gandapur as proclaimed offenders, further bolstering efforts to hold them accountable for their alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents. The JIT authorities stress that the impending arrests of these individuals will be conducted in accordance with the law, ensuring due process is followed.

The JIT has further revealed that the accused were in frequent communication with their supporters and campaign workers throughout the election period, as well as during the announcement of results.
