KARACHI: WAPDA’s star javelin thrower and Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem delivered a stellar performance at the National Games in Karachi, claiming the gold medal with a massive throw of 81.81 meters.
Fellow WAPDA athlete Yasir Sultan secured the silver, reaching 70.7 meters, while Army’s Abrar Ali completed the podium in third place with a throw of 67.68 meters.
Nadeem’s remarkable throw highlighted his dominance in the event and continued his impressive track record in national and international competitions.
Earlier, speaking to media Nadeem said that he is fully fit and focused on the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games.
He added that the National Games will bring new talent to the forefront for Pakistan. He added that the sports environment in the country has improved and he is confident that strong talent will emerge in every athletics event this year.
The javelin star said this emerging talent will make Pakistan proud on the international stage. He noted that with the improved conditions, a large number of athletes are taking part in the National Games.
Arshad Nadeem added that athletes who perform well in the National Games will be included in the national camp. With several events scheduled in Pakistan next year, these players will get more opportunities to shine.
He also opened the National Games by throwing the javelin, entering the field proudly waving Pakistan’s flag.
