As Brooklyn’s revolt rumbles on, Cruz Beckham salutes dad in new video

While headlines swirl around the Beckham family, 20-year-old Cruz Beckham is quietly telling his own story, not through statements, but through song.

The youngest Beckham son this week unveiled a preview of his latest single, For Your Love, recorded with his band, The Breakers. Yet rather than opting for a glossy studio backdrop or an LA skyline, Cruz chose somewhere far more personal: a traditional East London pie and mash shop beloved by his father, David Beckham.

For fans of the former England captain, the location is instantly recognisable. David, who grew up in Leytonstone, has long spoken about his affection for old-school East End comfort food, regularly returning to Tony’s Traditional Pie and Mash Shop to reconnect with his roots. By setting his video there, Cruz appears to be doing more than filming a scene. He is subtly weaving family heritage into his creative identity.

In the teaser clip, Cruz and his bandmates gather in the tiled eatery as they meet a slick music executive intent on reshaping their sound. The scene hints at tension between authenticity and commercial pressure, a fitting metaphor for a young artist carrying one of Britain’s most famous surnames. Moments later, the screen cuts to black, flashing the release date.

The symbolism feels deliberate. While public attention has largely centred on Cruz’s older brother Brooklyn Beckham and his very public devotion to wife Nicola Peltz, Cruz seems focused on grounding himself in something steady: music and memory.

Recently, he revealed that forming a band changed everything for him. Having previously worked solo, he admitted something had always felt incomplete. Through a mutual connection, his girlfriend, songwriter Jackie Apostel, he found collaborators who shared his passion. Together, they are chasing what he calls “the dream”: making music that lifts people’s spirits.

There is another generational thread running through Cruz’s journey. He has spoken fondly of his maternal grandfather, who once performed in a band and introduced him to The Beatles, proof that rhythm and melody run deep in the family line.

In choosing pie, mash and a slice of East End nostalgia over Hollywood gloss, Cruz Beckham may be making his clearest statement yet. Fame may be inherited, but identity, like music, is something you build yourself, one note at a time.
