ISLAMABAD: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday announced the dates for the Asia Cup 2025.

Taking to social media platform X, Naqvi revealed that the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, 2025.

He said fans could look forward to thrilling cricket contests, adding that the detailed match schedule will be announced soon.

Earlier, Indian media reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received government clearance to participate in the tournament, including the green light to play against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Indian media also claimed that Pakistan and India are likely to be placed in the same group, raising the possibility of multiple encounters between the two sides — in the group stage, Super Four, and potentially in the final.

Eight teams will take part in the T20-format event, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman and the UAE

According to media reports, the full schedule of the Asia Cup could be released within the next 48 hours.

Earlier, Pakistan formally barred its national teams from participating in any sporting events held in India, citing security concerns.
