Assistant Commissioner among three killed in Bannu-Miranshah road attack

WEB DESK: Three police officers including Assistant Commissioner were among three individuals killed in an attack on a vehicle on the Bannu-Miranshah Road, police confirmed.

Additional officers were injured in the assault and have been transferred to a hospital for treatment. AC Shah Wali was also reported to have been martyred in the incident.

Regional Police Office spokesperson Kashif Nawaz told Dawn that the assault occurred within the jurisdiction of the Cantt police station. He said two constables and a civilian were killed, while two additional policemen sustained injuries.

The attack follows a deadly day in Lakki Marwat and Bannu, where two policemen were martyred and five others wounded in separate suicide and gun assaults. Pakistan has witnessed a renewed wave of militancy, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its truce with the state in 2022 and pledged more strikes against security forces and law enforcement.
