The hosts started with energy and intent, pressing City high and finding reward when Cash pounced on a loose defensive moment to slot home from close range. His goal set the tone for a tense battle between Villa vs City, as Unai Emery’s side looked determined to protect their advantage.

By the 48th minute, Villa held a 1–0 lead, boasting 54 per cent possession and 94 per cent pass accuracy, compared to City’s 46 per cent control and 92 per cent accuracy.

Pep Guardiola’s champions managed just one shot on target in the opening half, struggling to unlock Villa’s compact defense. With the home crowd behind them, Aston Villa aimed to maintain their momentum and secure a statement win against one of the league’s toughest opponents.
