ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday heard the case related to the October 4 protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which resulted in the death of a police officer during clashes. During the hearing, the court issued arrest warrants for Chief Minister KP Sohail Afridi in connection with the case.

Proceedings were conducted by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra.

The court also declared former opposition leader Omar Ayub, Amir Mughal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman and several other accused as proclaimed offenders after they repeatedly failed to appear before the court despite summons.

PTI leader Azam Swati appeared before the court, and the judge noted that the trial will continue in relation to him separately.

The court directed that statements of prosecution witnesses be recorded during the day’s proceedings as part of the ongoing trial process.

The case was registered at Noun Police Station in Islamabad after the October 4 protest turned violent, leading to the death of a police official and injuries amid confrontations between protesters and law enforcement personnel.

Further hearings are expected as the court continues to examine evidence and testimonies linked to the incident.
