Australia crowned champions as Pakistan fall in over-40 T20 World Cup final

ISLAMABAD: Australia clinched the inaugural IMC Over-40 T20 Cricket World Cup title on Monday, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in the final at the National Cricket Stadium.
In the final at Karachi’s National Stadium, Australia secured a dominant victory in what proved to be a one-sided contest.
Chasing a target of 151, Australia’s Steve Nuttall scored 47 runs off 40 balls, while Steven Paulsen added a valuable 42 off 34 balls. In the closing moments of the match, Nasir Jalil smashed a quickfire 25 off just 10 deliveries to seal the win for Australia.
For Pakistan, Fawad Alam delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 2 wickets for just 16 runs, but it wasn’t enough to lead the team to victory.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, managing 150 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs.
Australia’s Mark Cleary starred with the ball, taking a brilliant five-wicket haul for 22 runs, preventing Pakistan from building momentum.
Nadeem Javed (24), Fawad Alam (24), and Abdul Razzaq (19) made useful contributions, but Pakistan could only post 150 runs in 20 overs.
A total of 12 international teams competed in the IMC Over-40 T20 Cricket World Cup 2025, with 42 matches played across various venues in Karachi.
