Authorities trace down ‘missing’ tourist family in Babusar

GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) authorities successfully located a missing tourist vehicle, carrying a family of four, near Babusar Top following an extensive search operation.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Commissioner Office Roundu, the white Corolla vehicle, with registration number LEH-2847, off the grid on June 29, 2025, while traveling from Skardu to Rawalpindi, has been located following a rigorous search by local authorities.
The vehicle was carrying a family of four: Usman Ahmad, Noor Ahmad, Lahza Usman, and Miraj Bibi, from Peshawar. The family was en route to Gilgit before heading towards Islamabad when the vehicle lost contact.
District authorities, Rescue 1122, Tourist Police, Forest Department staff, and other relevant agencies launched a coordinated search operation to locate the vehicle.

In a recent update, the vehicle was identified near Babusar Top. Direct communication was established with Additional Deputy Commissioner Rondu and Assistant Commissioner Rondu by the family, confirming that all passengers are safe and unharmed.
The district administration has urged all travelers to share their travel plans and locations with nearby checkpoints or Tourist Police to ensure timely assistance in case of emergencies.
In a video message brother of the missing tourists has praised the authorities for taking prompt action to successfully resolving the situation, ensuring the safety of the missing travelers.
Meanwhile, in another video Usman Ahemed says that they are safe and sound and they have established contact with their family and they spent night near Cihilas.
