The role, central to Pakistan’s aerial strategic operations, marks a key leadership change amid evolving regional security challenges.

AVM Aurangzeb, commissioned in December 1992 in the General Duty (Pilot) branch, brings more than 30 years of experience spanning operational command and strategic planning. The statement and his confident delivery quickly went viral across social media, sparking debate and recognition.

Aurangzeb holds master’s degrees in Military Arts from China and in National Security and War Studies from the National Defence University, Islamabad. His academic and operational background positions him to guide the AFSC’s strategic assets and future defence initiatives.

A decorated officer, he has received the Sitara‑e‑Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha‑e‑Imtiaz (Military), and Sitara‑e‑Basalat among other honours during his career.
