WEB DESK: In a significant development, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mohsin Naqvi chaired the 39th Punjab Cabinet meeting on Sunday at the CM’s Office, announcing a decision to upgrade the iconic Bab-e-Azadi Wagah Border.
The project aims to redesign the border on the distinguished pattern of the Lahore Fort.
During the meeting, the Cabinet gave its approval for the extension and redesigning initiative of Bab-e-Azadi, the Parade Ground, and allocated funds for the project.
CM Naqvi highlighted that Bab-e-Azadi’s upgrade would emulate the Lahore Fort, incorporating the design elements of the historic Alamgiri Gate.
Among the outlined enhancements, the directive was given to incorporate large LCDs for showcasing parades at Bab-e-Azadi.
The briefings disclosed that post-upgradation, the Parade Ground’s seating capacity would witness a substantial increase to approximately 18,000, and the height of Bab-e-Azadi would reach around 120 feet.
