CHARSADDA: The Bacha Khan University has expelled four students for singing the Indian national anthem on campus and posting the act on social media, university officials said.
According to sources, the incident occurred two days ago when the students, enrolled in the university’s pharmacy department, performed the Indian national anthem and chanted slogans.
A video of the act was later uploaded online, prompting a strong reaction from the university administration.
The university convened its 73rd disciplinary committee meeting, which decided to immediately expel the four students involved.
Their hostel accommodations were also cancelled, according to a university notification.

The notification stated that the students violated university and hostel regulations by raising anti-state slogans within campus premises and deliberately attempting to provoke unrest and undermine national unity.
It also noted that recording and distributing the video on social media was an illegal act.
“The disciplinary committee’s recommendations were approved by the competent authorities, resulting in the expulsion of the students and the cancellation of their hostel seats,” the notice said.
The expelled students were instructed to vacate their hostel accommodations immediately.
