WEB DESK: An Indian woman was beaten to death by her husband and in-laws for not bringing a Fortuner car as part of her dowry.
According to Indian media, the woman who was murdered at the hands of her in-laws was named Karishma. Her brother, Deepak, filed a complaint with the police, stating that Karishma got married to Vakash in 2022 and resided with her in-laws.
Deepak stated that during the wedding, Krushma was given a dowry worth 1.1 million, including gold and an SUV. However, over time, Karishma’s in-laws kept increasing their demands for dowry, which led to mental and physical abuse towards Karishma.

According to a news media report, Karishma and Vikas tied the knot in December 2022 and lived with Vikas’s family in Kheda Chauganpur village of Greater Noida.
The situation deteriorated further after Karishma gave birth to a girl. Despite efforts to reconcile differences through several panchayat meetings in Vikas’s village, the abuse persisted, according to Deepak. Allegedly, Karishma’s family paid an additional Rs 10 lakh to Vikas’s family, but mistreatment continued.
Deepak claimed that Vikas’s family recently demanded a new Fortuner car and an additional Rs 21 lakh from Karishma.
