Bahrain condemns Houthi attack on Saudi-operated vessel in Red Sea

WEB DESK: Bahrain has strongly condemned an attack by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on a Saudi-operated vessel in the Red Sea, calling it a violation of international law and a threat to maritime security.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the attack triggered a fire on the bow of the vessel, which a Saudi company operates, while no casualties were reported.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the incident as a “blatant violation” of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, warning that such attacks pose serious risks to global trade, energy supplies, and freedom of navigation.

The ministry expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed support for all measures taken by Riyadh to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national interests.

Bahrain also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take effective measures against such attacks, enhance maritime security in key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, and hold those responsible accountable.
