Balochistan’s Rs730bn budget on June 16

The Balochistan government will present the annual budget for the next fiscal year on June 16.
The province’s total budget for FY 2023-24 is estimated to surpass Rs730 billion. However, sources in the finance department indicated a budget deficit of more than Rs170 billion.
Balochistan is expected to receive over Rs490 billion shares from the federal government, while Rs60 billion in the form of provincial revenue.
The province’s non-developmental budget is expected to exceed Rs530 billion, according to sources.
Over Rs200 billion is expected to be allocated for development.
More than Rs180 billion is expected to be allocated for salaries of government employees. Additionally, the budget also carries a proposal to create 3,000 new jobs in the next financial year.
It has also been proposed to increase the salaries of government employees by 10 to 15 per cent and a 10 per cent increase in pension.
Over Rs5.8 billion is expected to be allocated for the health card programme. An amount of Rs2.07 billion will go to the purchase of medicine for government hospitals. The Balochistan Education Endowment Fund is expected to receive Rs2 billion, while Rs1 billion will be allocated to the pension fund and public endowment fund each.
Balochistan Hunarmand Programme and the food security fund are likely to receive Rs2 billion and Rs1 billion respectively.
Meanwhile, the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative is expected to receive Rs75 milion.
The education sector is expected to receive Rs120 billion, while Rs80 billion have been set aside for healthcare.
