BAN vs PAK: Shan Masood’s side need 121 in tough chase to level Test series

DHAKA: The Bangladesh vs Pakistan Test series has reached a tense climax as Pakistan require 121 runs in 96 overs on the final day to level the two-match series.

Bangladesh won the first Test convincingly, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.

The second Test at Sylhet has swung heavily in Bangladesh’s favour, leaving Pakistan in a difficult position with Bangladesh holding a 93 per cent win probability, while Pakistan’s chances stand at just 6 per ent.

Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss, hoping to change their fortunes early in the match. However, the decision proved costly for Shan Masood’s side.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 in 77 overs in their first innings. Pakistan failed to match that total and conceded a 46-run lead.

In their second innings, Pakistan showed resistance through Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha, who played fighting half-centuries to keep the visitors in contention.

Pakistan ended Day 4 on 316–7, with Rizwan unbeaten on 75 off 134 balls, including eight fours. Sajid Khan remained not out on nine.

A crucial 96-run partnership between Rizwan and Agha brought Pakistan closer to the target, reducing the required runs significantly.

Salman Ali Agha scored 71 off 102 balls, hitting six fours and a six before being bowled by Taijul Islam.

Taijul struck again soon after, removing Hasan Ali for a duck, caught at first slip, strengthening Bangladesh’s control at the end of play.
