DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made key changes to the leadership setup across all three formats ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and upcoming World Test Championship fixtures.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named vice-captain of the Test side, supporting skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who will lead the team at least until the end of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. Bangladesh recently defeated Ireland by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test, taking a 1-0 lead in the series, with the second Test set to begin on November 19.
In the ODI format, Shanto will serve as vice-captain under Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was appointed ODI captain in June this year for a one-year term.
For T20Is, opening batter Saif Hassan has been recognised for his consistent performances and appointed deputy to captain Litton Das. Hassan has impressed in 18 T20I appearances, scoring four half-centuries and proving a valuable contributor down the order. Das was named T20I captain in May and will lead Bangladesh into the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Before the World Cup, Bangladesh will face Ireland in a three-match T20I series starting November 27, following the conclusion of the ongoing Test series.
