KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that the central bank would remain closed on December 25 (Monday) being public holiday on the occasions of Quaid-i-Azam Day and Christmas, as declared by the government.

The nation would celebrate the 147th birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, next week.

“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on December 25, 2023 (Monday) being public holiday on the occasions of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, as declared by the Government of Pakistan,” said a statement issued here.

Last week, the federal government announced that its employees belonging to the Christian community would get their salaries and pensions on December 20, five days before Christmas.

Due to the closure of State Bank subsequently a bank holiday will be observed and all banks nationwide will also remain close.

Christmas preparations have gained momentum in the twin cities. Homes and churches adorn themselves with the Christmas trees, flags, twinkling lights, and radiant electric lamps.
