Barcelona and Club Brugge share six-goal thriller in Champions League clash

Club Brugge vs Barcelona

Barcelona and Club Brugge produced a Champions League classic on Wednesday night, drawing 3-3 after a thrilling contest that swung from end to end. Both sides traded blows, missed chances, and relied on VAR interventions in a game that will live long in the memory of fans.

Club Brugge drew first blood in the sixth minute when Carlos Forbs tore down the right wing and set up Nicolo Tresoldi for an easy tap-in. But Barcelona responded almost instantly, with Ferran Torres steering in Fermin Lopez’s cross to bring the visitors level.

Brugge, however, refused to sit back. Christos Tzolis found Forbs again, and the Portuguese forward coolly finished to restore their lead. Barcelona hit the woodwork three times through Fermin, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia, showing just how close they came to levelling again before Lamine Yamal stole the spotlight.

The teenage sensation dazzled the crowd, weaving past defenders, exchanging a quick pass with Dani Olmo, and slotting home a stunning equaliser that drew comparisons with Lionel Messi’s early brilliance.

Forbs struck once more to put Brugge ahead 3-2, but the hosts were denied a penalty moments later after VAR overturned the referee’s decision. Barcelona then found their third equaliser when Yamal’s cross was turned into the net by the unfortunate Tzolis.

In a chaotic ending, Brugge thought they had stolen the win after Romeo Vermant dispossessed Wojciech Szczesny and scored, only for VAR to rule it out for a foul.

“It was a magical night,” said Forbs, who scored twice against Barcelona. “We deserved to win, but that’s football.”

With the draw, Barcelona sit on seven points, while Brugge move to four, keeping both sides in the hunt for a spot in the knockout stages.
