OSLO: Barcelona stormed to a dominant 4-0 victory over French side Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final on Saturday, clinching their fourth European title with a ruthless second-half performance in Oslo.
After a tense first half in which Lyon had a goal disallowed for offside, FC Barcelona Femení took complete control after the break through a clinical attacking display led by forwards Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo.
Barcelona finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when midfielder Patri Guijarro won possession deep inside her own half before launching a swift counterattack. She picked out Pajor on the right flank, and the Polish striker fired home from a tight angle to put the Spanish champions ahead.
Pajor doubled Barcelona’s advantage 14 minutes later after Lyon’s defence failed to track her run inside the box. Left completely unmarked, she smashed a low pass from Esmee Brugts into the net from close range to score her second of the night.
The second goal drained the momentum from Lyon, allowing Barcelona to dominate the closing stages of the match. Paralluelo then added further gloss to the scoreline with a stunning long-range strike in the 90th minute before racing through on goal to net another in stoppage time.
The emphatic victory sealed Barcelona’s fourth Women’s Champions League crown and underlined their growing dominance in European women’s football.
